Ready-Made Review: Slimming World Sweet Potato Curry

For my third ready-made review, I’m trying out the sweet potato curry. I’m a massive fan of curry, both mild and hot (although I’ll admit to tending towards the fiery ones!), so when I saw this vegetarian option, I was pleased with how tasty it looked in the picture on the packaging and decided to pop it in my shopping basket to to try for myself…

I HAVE NOT BEEN PAID FOR THESE REVIEWS, NOR WAS I GIVEN ANY PRODUCTS FOR FREE – I BOUGHT THEM MYSELF AND ALL OPINIONS EXPRESSED ARE ENTIRELY MY OWN

As with the other Slimming World ready meals, this is completely syn-free, which is always attractive to anyone on the programme. Of course, you’re recommended to serve it with speed food of some kind, so, as it is only the curry in the package, I boiled some brown rice and served it with a salad of lettuce, cabbage, carrot, cucumber, and radish.

Also like the others, it can be either microwaved or oven-cooked, making it a handy convenience option.

In a rare quirk of fate, the meal actually looks almost exactly as it does in the picture on the front! Not only that, it’s delicious, with vibrant colours and delicate flavour combinations! I mentioned earlier that I tend towards the hotter end of the scale when it comes to curries, and this is nowhere near as hot as I usually like (on the front of the packaging, it shows only one of a possible three chillies for heat), but it still has enough spice to leave a light heat on the tongue, and it’s pretty darned tasty! It’s the perfect balance between sweet potato, peppers and spinach, and the sauce has a slight sweetness that is just gorgeous.

This is one I’ll definitely be buying again for those days when I really can’t be bothered to cook – I’ll just whack it in the microwave while some rice simmers away, and serve it with a salad for the easiest possible full meal (which is what I did today – I was running late after a long session at the gym and pool). I can also see me trying the recipe that is very handily printed on the back of the packaging (I’m already starting to build up a little collection of them!).
