Recipe: Chocolate Marshmallow Porridge

There’s nothing quite like a nice, hot, filling bowl of porridge, but sometimes you want something a little bit special. Perhaps it’s Mothers’ Day, or your birthday, or just a day you feel like you need cheering up, well this chocolate marshmallow porridge tastes heavenly, feels decadent, and is only a few syns, so it won’t blow your allowance for the day – hurrah!

F = Free food (eat as much as you like)
S = Speed food (these should make up at least a third of your meal)
P = Protein free food (eat as much of these as you like!)
HEa = Healthy Extra A (a daily allowance of dairy produce)
HEb = Healthy Extra B (a daily allowance of a product with fibre)
# = a number denotes roughly how many syns are in foods used

  • 35g porridge oats (HEb)
  • 175mls milk (from your HEa allowance)
  • 1 tbsp Sweet Freedom Choc Shot (2)
  • 12g mini marshmallows (2)


  • Put the porridge oats, milk and Chic Shot in a pan, and heat, stirring regularly, till it reaches the desired thickness.
  • Pour into a bowl and top with the marshmallows.

You can make this using any milk you like, but I particularly like it made with almond milk, and I tend to stir half my marshmallows through the porridge, so they go all squishy and melty, then leave the other half on top. The result is a deliciously sweet and chocolatey breakfast, or supper, or any-time-snack that hits the spot nicely and gives you a great chocolate fix.
